U.Va. icon George Welsh "put on this Earth to coach football"


George Welsh was small in stature, shy by nature and humble at every turn. But at the Naval Academy and University of Virginia, indeed in all of college football, he was a towering figure. “That guy, you didn’t want to mess with,” said Chris Slade, among the most decorated Cavaliers of the Welsh era. “For a guy his size, when he walked in a room you thought it was Andre the Giant."
