The smile at the end of the Smith Center tunnel
Posted Jan 25, 2019
Charlie Jones stands as a sentinel guarding the inner sanctum of UNC basketball. The 80-year-old, dressed in his Carolina blue blazer, can be seen on game days at the entrance to the tunnel leading to the home team’s quarters at the Dean Smith Center. Ask him how long he’s been there and he’ll say, “Thirty-five years. My first two were at Carmichael Auditorium.”
