Ginyard's defense earns praise after win over Duke
Posted Mar 8, 2006
North Carolina coach Roy Williams said Marcus Ginyard is as advanced defensively as any freshman he has coached. Point guard Bobby Frasor said Ginyard is the best defensive player on the team. But until a few days ago, Ginyard hadn't earned a single defensive player of the game award for the Tar Heels this season. That changed Saturday, when Ginyard helped limit Duke All-American J.J. Redick to 18 points on 5-of-21 shooting.
