This was the 14th time UNC has defeated the No. 1 team in the AP poll, more than any other school in college basketball history. This was the eighth time Roy Williams has defeated the No. 1 team in the AP poll. That breaks a tie with Gary Williams for the most wins over the AP No. 1 team in college basketball history (five at UNC, three at Kansas).
