The 1981-82 North Carolina Tar Heels played like the best team in the nation all season. James Worthy made the leap to superstar, and sophomore Sam Perkins was one of the best big men in the nation. Jimmy Black served as a surehanded point guard and leader. Matt Doherty was a versatile utility player, and Michael Jordan was a superbly efficient freshman.
