Tar Heel Firsts: UNC’s first ACC Basketball Tournament title

In the opening round of the 1957 ACC Basketball Tournament, UNC beat Clemson, 81-61, as Lennie Rosenbluth scored 45 points. UNC escaped Wake Forest in the semifinals, 61-59. Sixth seeded South Carolina upset Duke and Maryland in the first two rounds. But, the Tar Heels whipped the Gamecocks 95-75 in the finals to earn the NCAA Tournament berth.
