After the end of the 1997 regular season, Mack Brown left North Carolina to take the head job at Texas. As he did not coach the bowl game, his final game was a 50-14 blowout of Duke to complete a 10-1 regular season. Titanic was the highest grossing film of 1997. The number one song in the United States was “Candle in the Wind” by Elton John.
