Sam Howell settles in with Tar Heels

Sam Howell had become more comfortable in his first-string role as North Carolina’s quarterback, his coaches said Monday. Howell will be the starter in his collegiate debut for Saturday’s opening game against South Carolina at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium. “I think Sam has done better since he took over,” Tar Heels coach Mack Brown said.
