Inside Carcmichael Auditorium, where the Tar Heels used to play their home games, Steve Hale told me a few days before the game that the team had practiced in the Smith Center and that he especially liked the rims. Well, he wasn't kidding. Hale nailed Duke with a career-high 28 points, and after UNC beat Duke 95-92.
