Mistakes annoying, but strategy carries Tar Heels

The numbers seemed certain to spell defeat for North Carolina, but forget the numbers. North Carolina committed 25 turnovers on the road with senior team leader David Noel playing 19 minutes because of foul trouble. But defense and rebounding held the 20th-ranked Tar Heels together as they edged Virginia Tech 64-61. (Charlotte Observer)
