Legendary Tar Heel coach Dean Smith won his first Men’s ACC Basketball Tournament title when the tournament came to Greenboro for the first time, March 9-11, 1967. UNC beat Duke 82-73 to win the first Greensboro Tournament. Basketball superstar Michael Jordan led the Tar Heels to a 72-65 win over Georgia Tech on Jan. 29, 1983.
