Mack Brown had not coached at UNC in 21 years, longer than most of the students had been alive, but everybody seemed to know who he was. “The younger folks knew him from ESPN and Texas more than anything,” Bubba Cunningham said. Brown was unfailingly optimistic when he returned. “I tell people we’re the happiest 6-6 team in the country.” (Forbes)
