When Roy Williams left his position as a North Carolina assistant coach for Kansas more than three decades ago, his then-boss Dean Smith gave him advice. “Just be yourself,” Williams recalled, “you’re good enough.” Now, Williams and Smith have something specific in common. Williams matched his mentor in coaching victories when UNC defeated Yale.
