With UNC (8-6, 1-2) coach Roy Williams one win away from passing Dean Smith for 4th all-time in Division 1 wins against Georgia Tech (7-7, 2-2) Saturday, UNC set a different kind of record. The Tar Heels entered halftime down 27-47, with the 20-point deficit being the largest ever for the home team at the Smith Center. The deficit was never overcome in the 83-96 loss.
