Ricky Lanier was the first African-American football player at UNC. He will forever be remembered for his 174 yard rushing day against VMI, still a record for Tar Heel quarterbacks. Charlie Scott was the first African-American basketball player at UNC. Scott finished his career as a two-time All-American and is a member of the Naismith Hall of Fame.
