Losing season still a winner for Heels

For North Carolina, 2005 was about close wins, close losses and the closeness between finishing with a winning or a losing season. But on the road against No. 5 Virginia Tech, the season came down to how far, as in: How far had coach John Bunting taken his Tar Heels program in five years? How far was a team in the middle of the ACC behind one not only at the top of the conference, but also the nation? For 30 minutes, it wasn't far at all.
