March 17, 1967: UNC beats Princeton in overtime 78-70 in Dean Smith's first NCAA Tournament game as the Tar Heels' head coach. The win avenged an earlier loss that season when Princeton knocked off North Carolina, 91-81. The Tigers peaked at No. 3 in the AP poll. But UNC was on the start of a run that would see three straight Final Four appearances.
