March 20, 1969: UNC loses to Purdue in Dean Smith's third straight Final Four appearance in the semifinals, 92-65. Point guard injuries struck the Tar Heels as Dick Grubar hurt his knee in the ACC Tournament and would miss the rest of the season. That UNC team would finish 27-5 and had great players like Charlie Scott, Rusty Clark, and Bill Bunting.
