March 30, 1981: UNC loses 63-50 to Indiana in the national title game the day Ronald Reagan was shot. Al Wood had 18 points in his final game for North Carolina. UNC's players were tired of hearing how Dean Smith couldn't win the big one, so they vowed the day after the title game that they'd make sure to rectify that the next year - and they did.
