Triangle Timehop: Today in local college basketball history (April 2)
Posted Apr 2, 2020
April 2, 2016: UNC beats Syracuse 83-66 to advance to the title game, UNC's first appearance in it since 2009 (and first Final Four since 2009). Syracuse, the 10-seed, had been on a Cinderella run of its own after many had argued they shouldn't have even made the tournament. Brice Johnson and Justin Jackson led North Carolina with 16 points each.
