Ranking doesn't faze Tar Heels
Posted Oct 24, 2005
What North Carolina expected became official Sunday: The defending national champions are underdogs to win the ACC. Not that the Tar Heels seem to particularly mind being picked to finish sixth. "Looking on paper, we have no chance of repeating as national champions,'' said senior David Noel, the team's leading returning scorer at 3.9 ppg. "But [being an underdog] is fine with me, because everyone's going to look at us like, 'North Carolina's a name, but they don't have the players they had last year,' so a lot of people are going to sleep on us -- which is good for us, because we can open a lot of people's eyes."
