UNC lands basketball recruit

California power forward Deon Thompson said yes to the North Carolina Tar Heels late Tuesday night and rendered coach Roy Williams speechless. "That's what he told me to say," Thompson said, with a laugh, by phone from his Torrance, Calif., home. "He said no one would believe it because he can talk." (Raleigh News & Observer)
