Heels receive fourth 2006 commitment


Not long after North Carolina learned recruiting target Spencer Hawes had committed to Washington, the Tar Heels' basketball program received an oral commitment from another low-post player, of Torrance, Calif. Thompson, a 6-foot-8, 250-pound center ranked No. 69 in the high school senior class by Rivals.com, also had offers from Wake Forest, Connecticut and Kentucky, among others.
