Deon Thompson tells North Carolina he's on the way
Posted Oct 6, 2005
Torrance High senior center Deon Thompson has made a verbal commitment to attend North Carolina. Thompson emerged as a national basketball prospect this past summer after a series of excellent performances in July during the Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas. He averaged 18.8 points, 10.4 rebounds and 4.7 blocks per game as a junior and is expected to be one of the best players in Southern California as a senior. Thompson chose North Carolina over Connecticut, Gonzaga, Kentucky and UCLA.
