Heels' defense stifles Utes


North Carolina's defense took control in a crucial fourth quarter yesterday, forcing and recovering three fumbles in the final eight minutes in a 31-17 victory over Utah at Kenan Stadium. Led by linebackers and , the Tar Heels stopped the Utes cold on four consecutive possessions with the help of the turnovers to protect a 24-17 lead in front of 50,000. (Winston-Salem Journal)
