In the Tar Heels' last game at Carmichael Auditorium before moving to the Smith Center, No. 1 ranked North Carolina defeated an NC State team that went on to make the Elite Eight. After the game, Jim Valvano made the unofficial last basket in Carmichael's history. (WRAL Sports Fan)
