North Carolina also started 0-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference in 1979-80, 1996-97, 2008-09, 2012-13, and 2013-14. Those teams, respectively, finished 9-5, 11-5, 13-3 and 13-5, including a 2009 national championship. The Tar Heels made the Final Four in 1997, and the Sweet 16 in each of 2013 and 2014; they won the ACC Tournament in 1997.
