Pregame conflict still unclear
Posted Sep 28, 2005
Annabelle Vaughan, assistant athletics director for media relations for N.C. State, said Carolina players violated the standard pregame practice of staying on their side of the field as divided at the 50-yard line. Prior to Saturday, she said, "I've never seen it happen." UNC linebacker Larry Edwards in a postgame interview with UNC play-by-play announcer Woody Durham gave this version of the incident: "We got into a little scuffle. We was down there saying the Lord's Prayer for the people out there, the victims of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita, and they decided they wanted to break our prayer prematurely. "I didn't really take kindly to that."
