Thirty-five years ago, the Dean Dome opened versus Duke. It is hard to believe the Smith Center has been home of the Tar Heels for nearly twice as long as Carmichael Auditorium that hosted the Tar Heels for 20 years. Every time UNC plays Duke at home, I remember that Saturday in 1986, when the nation's largest on-campus basketball arena opened. (Chapelboro.com)
