This March 30, 1982 Washington Post article recounts legendary UNC coach Dean Smith's first national title: "Michael Jordan's 16-foot jump shot with 15 seconds remaining gave North Carolina a thrilling 63-62 victory over Georgetown and the NCAA basketball championship before 61,612 at the Superdome tonight.
