Roy Williams understood coaching as both showing players the right way to do things and instilling confidence that they were capable of doing them. He also understood coaching as establishing a standard of excellence that led to Hall of Fame-level achievement once he moved from coaching 9th graders to coaching elite athletes at Kansas and UNC.
