Former North Carolina defensive tackle Dee Hardison was a first-team All-America in 1977 and two-time first-team All-ACC in 1976 and 1977. Hardison arrived at UNC as a running back but was moved to the defensive side of the ball, first at linebacker and later to defensive tackle once the staff beefed him up, as he eventually put on almost 50 pounds.
