UNC's Bunting: Living the dream
Posted Aug 25, 2005
John Bunting's lengthy road to becoming North Carolina's head coach began at Springbrook High during the mid-1960s, when he was a star athlete in three sports. He lettered three times in basketball and baseball and twice in his favorite sport, football. During his years at Springbrook, Bunting played sports alongside Jim Ward, the son of the late University of Maryland football coach and All-America lineman Bob Ward. As such, Bunting initially leaned towards a collegiate career in College Park. Then came a visit to Chapel Hill.
