With Frank Solich Retiring, Mack Brown Now Oldest FBS Head Coach

North Carolina is set to begin its season on Sept. 3 at Virginia Tech. When the Tar Heels take the field at Lane Stadium, they’ll be led by the only FBS head coach in his 70s. Mack Brown will turn 70 on Aug. 27 and isn’t showing signs of slowing down. Entering the third year of his second stint in Chapel Hill, the coaching legend has elevated the UNC program.
