Tar Heels hope to build on 2004's late momentum

North Carolina’s backs were against the wall coming off a 46-16 football loss at Utah last October. The Tar Heels were 3-4 and preparing to host Atlantic Coast Conference newcomer and national power Miami. A team that appeared headed for a losing season and a program likely looking for a new leader surprisingly took off in another direction. While several key players from that team are gone, the 2005 Heels are out to prove the turnaround wasn’t an aberration, but the beginning of an ascent.
