Quarterback Roger Heinz slowed by a back injury

North Carolina's plans to find a backup quarterback were slowed this week because of a back injury to Roger Heinz, one of the top candidates for the job. Heinz, a third-year sophomore, missed a third consecutive day of practice yesterday because of a disk problem. Coach John Bunting said that Heinz' back is painful and stiff and that his status is day to day.
