Mack Brown said the Tar Heels’ backup quarterback race has been too close to call, meaning highly regarded freshman Drake Maye is in the mix to earn the role of understudy to Sam Howell, the Preseason Player of the Year in the ACC. Maye, the Charlotte Myers Park product, and sophomore Jacolby Criswell are the candidates for the No. 2 spot (Burlington Times News)
