UNC begins practice looking at backups

A search for backups at two key positions was the most urgent business for North Carolina as it began fall practice Friday. The Tar Heels have first-time starters at quarterback with Matt Baker and at tailback with Barrington Edwards. Redshirt freshman Joey Bozich and sophomore Roger Heinz are competing for the second-team quarterback position, and coach John Bunting is watching freshmen Richie Rich and James Arnold at tailback.
