UNC enters Friday’s opener at Virginia Tech with its highest preseason ranking in 14 years, featuring one of college football’s most visible players in quarterback Sam Howell, and expected to contend in the ACC. All of which is swell, Mack Brown said in as many words this week. But now it’s go-time for the Tar Heels on proving whether they’re worthy.
