Emoni Bates’ college choice shows that playing for Memphis coach Penny Hardaway resonates with the nation’s top recruits. Bates, who has been a household name on the AAU circuit since middle school, appeared destined for the G-League or another pro avenue once he reneged on his commitment to Michigan State. Instead, he joined Jalen Duren.
