UNC tailback position up in the air
Posted Jul 26, 2005
With incumbent tailback Ronnie McGill out with a torn pectoral muscle, UNC's depth at the position is a concern. The Tar Heels have the bodies, but few have seen much live action. UNC coach John Bunting has considered moving safety Mahlon Carey, a former tailback, back to running back. As of yet, that hasn't happened, but it's at least on the minds of the coaching staff. The starter, now that McGill is out, is LSU transfer Barrington Edwards, who sat out games last season but was a scout-team terror in practice.
