Mike Copeland two summer-school classes away from signing with Tar Heels
Posted Jul 21, 2005
Mike Copeland grew up watching tapes of North Carolina basketball games -- his grandmother, Bertha, is a die-hard UNC fan. "She raised me on Carolina -- James Worthy, Phil Ford, Michael Jordan," Copeland said Wednesday. Now, Bertha Copeland might get to see her 6-7½ grandson on tape. Mike Copeland said he is two summer-school classes away from becoming the fifth member of UNC's incoming freshman class, a late addition in a late-breaking recruiting process for the forward from Winston-Salem Reynolds.
