Nearly two decades have passed since Mack Brown reached out to a late-blooming grinder named Brian Kelly with the networking opportunity of a lifetime. Needing to round out his coaching staff at the 2003 Hula Bowl, Brown gave a hand up to the newly minted AFCA Division II Coach of the Year, Brian Kelly. Their relationship developed from there.
