Roy Williams acknowledges mistake at Kansas
Posted Jul 17, 2005
Roy Williams expressed regret Saturday for the "mistakes" made on his watch at Kansas that resulted in self-reported secondary NCAA violations in the Jayhawks' men's basketball program. Williams defended his integrity and that of the three boosters cited in Kansas' internal review for having made nominal payments to graduating Jayhawks players in violation of the NCAA's extra-benefits bylaws. "I don't believe there is any pattern of intentional wrongdoing in these cases," Williams said in a statement, "but they were mistakes."
