Despite North Carolina scoring 34 points and Sam Howell passing former UNC quarterback T.J. Yates as the Tar Heels' all-time career passing yardage leader, UNC was unable to stop No. 11 Notre Dame defensively and fell to the Fighting Irish 44-34 on Saturday Night in South Bend.
