Tar Heels, Gamecocks working on football matchups

North Carolina and South Carolina have talked about a future series in football, possibly starting in 2007. The border-state rivals have played 54 times, but the last game was in 1991. "We've had discussions, but nothing is close to being finalized," said Larry Gallo, UNC's senior associate athletics director. "We're still trying to explore the possibilities of when we can play. We're going to do what's in the best interest of our programs. There may be a series down the road." (Durham Herald-Sun)
