Leaning heavily on its starters against Virginia Tech, the Tar Heels toughed out a much-needed victory that demonstrated team resolve and crucial shot-making late. With Dawson Garcia unavailable due to an illness in his family, the Tar Heels were thin in the frontcourt, which meant Armando Bacot, Brady Manek, and Leaky Black would log heavy minutes.
