Dean Smith was already the czar when Mike Krzyzewski arrived, and the pair battled for two decades. Roy Williams settled in as the successor in Chapel Hill, and he and Krzyzewski fought over similar players going after the same stakes. It’s worth noting that after Williams arrived in 2003, the national title tally read: Tar Heels three, Blue Devils two.
