Supporters gathered outside the Smith Center, waiting to greet the Tar Heels and celebrate the hard-earned spot in the Sweet 16 they just had secured by way of their turbulent overtime victory against Baylor, the East Regional’s top seed. It felt like a triumph to UNC sophomore guard R.J. Davis, one of the architects who made such a scene possible.
