UNC’s magical run came up short Monday as Caleb Love’s potential game-tying 3-pointer missed at the buzzer, securing Kansas’ 72-69 victory in the national championship game. It was all UNC early. The Tar Heels spotted Kansas a 7-0 lead before playing full tilt Carolina basketball, outscoring the Jayhawks, 40-18, over the final 17:45 of the first half.
